He said to them: I am now one hundred and twenty years old, I can no longer be active. Moreover, יהוה has said to me, “You shall not go across yonder Jordan.”
y les dijo: «Hoy tengo ciento veinte años; ya no puedo salir ni entrar. Además, Hashem me ha dicho: “No cruzarás este Iardén.”»
It is indeed your God יהוה who will cross over before you, and who will wipe out those nations from your path; and you shall dispossess them.—Joshua is the one who shall cross before you, as יהוה has spoken.—
Hashem tu Elohim es quien cruza delante de ti; Él destruirá a esas naciones delante de ti, y las desposeerás. Iehoshúa es quien cruzará delante de ti, tal como Hashem ha dicho.
Be strong and resolute, be not in fear or in dread of them; for it is indeed your God יהוה who marches with you: [God] will not fail you or forsake you.

Then Moses called Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel: “Be strong and resolute, for it is you who shall go with this people into the land that יהוה swore to their fathers to give them, and it is you who shall apportion it to them.
Entonces Moshé llamó a Iehoshúa y le dijo ante la vista de todo Israel: «¡Esfuérzate y sé valiente! Porque tú entrarás con este pueblo a la tierra que Hashem juró a sus padres que les había de dar, y tú se la darás en posesión.»
when all Israel comes to appear before your God יהוה in the place that [God] will choose, you shall read this Teaching aloud in the presence of all Israel.
cuando todo Israel venga para presentarse delante Hashem tu Elohim en el lugar que él haya escogido, leerás esta Torá frente a todo Israel, a sus oídos.
Gather the people—men, women, children, and the strangers in your communities—that they may hear and so learn to revere your God יהוה and to observe faithfully every word of this Teaching.
Congrega al pueblo–los hombres, las mujeres, los niños y los forasteros que estén en tus ciudades–, para que oigan, y para que aprendan y reverencien al Eterno su Elohim y cuiden de poner por obra todas las palabras de esta Torá.
Their children, too, who have not had the experience, shall hear and learn to revere your God יהוה as long as they live in the land that you are about to cross the Jordan to possess.
«Sus hijos que no la conocen la oirán y aprenderán a temer al Eterno su Elohim, todos los días que vivan en la tierra que para tomarla en posesión cruzan el Iardén (Jordán).»
יהוה said to Moses: The time is drawing near for you to die. Call Joshua and present yourselves in the Tent of Meeting, that I may instruct him. Moses and Joshua went and presented themselves in the Tent of Meeting.
Entonces Hashem dijo a Moshé: «He aquí, se ha acercado el día de tu muerte. Llama a Iehoshúa, y preséntense en el tabernáculo de reunión para que yo lo comisione.» Moshé e Iehoshúa fueron y esperaron en el tabernáculo de reunión.
יהוה said to Moses: You are soon to lie with your ancestors. This people will thereupon go astray after the alien gods in their midst, in the land that they are about to enter; they will forsake Me and break My covenant that I made with them.
Y Hashem dijo a Moshé: «He aquí que tú vas a reposar con tus padres, pero este pueblo se levantará y se prostituirá tras los dioses extraños de la tierra hacia la cual va. En medio de ella me abandonará e invalidará mi pacto que he hecho con él.»
Then My anger will flare up against them, and I will abandon them and hide My countenance from them. They shall be ready prey; and many evils and troubles shall befall them. And they shall say on that day, “Surely it is because our God is not in our midst that these evils have befallen us.”
Aquel día se encenderá contra él Mi furor. Yo los abandonaré; esconderé de ellos Mi rostro, y serán consumidos. Muchos males y angustias les vendrán. En aquel día dirá: «¿Acaso no me han sobrevenido estos males porque mi Elohim no está en medio de mí?»
Therefore, write down this poem and teach it to the people of Israel; put it in their mouths, in order that this poem may be My witness against the people of Israel.
«Ahora, escriban para ustedes este cántico y enséñenlo a los Hijos de Israel. Ponlo en su boca, para que este cántico Me sea de testigo en los Hijos de Israel.»
When I bring them into the land flowing with milk and honey that I promised on oath to their fathers, and they eat their fill and grow fat and turn to other gods and serve them, spurning Me and breaking My covenant,
Cuando Yo les haya introducido en la tierra que juré dar a sus padres, una tierra que fluye leche y miel, y cuando hayan comido y se hayan saciado y engordado, entonces se volverán a dioses ajenos y les rendirán culto. Así me desdeñarán e invalidarán mi pacto.
and the many evils and troubles befall them—then this poem shall confront them as a witness, since it will never be lost from the mouth of their offspring. For I know what plans they are devising even now, before I bring them into the land that I promised on oath.
«Y sucederá que cuando le sobrevengan muchos males y angustias, este cántico dará testimonio contra él. Ciertamente no caerá en el olvido en la boca de sus descendientes, porque yo conozco sus predisposiciones y lo que hace hoy, aun antes de que yo le introduzca en la tierra que juré dar a sus padres.»
And [God] charged Joshua son of Nun: “Be strong and resolute: for you shall bring the Israelites into the land that I promised them on oath, and I will be with you.”
Entonces Elohim ordenó a Iehoshúa hijo de Nun, diciendo: «¡Esfuérzate y sé valiente! Porque tú harás entrar a los hijos de Israel a la tierra que les juré, y yo estaré contigo.»
Well I know how defiant and stiffnecked you are: even now, while I am still alive in your midst, you have been defiant toward יהוה; how much more, then, when I am dead!

For I know that, when I am dead, you will act wickedly and turn away from the path that I enjoined upon you, and that in time to come misfortune will befall you for having done evil in the sight of יהוה, whom you vexed by your deeds.

Command the Israelite people and say to them: Be punctilious in presenting to Me at stated times the offerings of food due Me, as offerings by fire of pleasing odor to Me.
«Manda a los Hijos de Israel y diles: «Cumplirán con mis sacrificios, mi pan, mis ofrendas quemadas de grato olor, ofreciéndomelos a su debido tiempo.»»
Say to them: These are the offerings by fire that you are to present to יהוה: As a regular burnt offering every day, two yearling lambs without blemish.
Les dirás: «Ésta es la ofrenda quemada que ofrecerán al Eterno: cada día, dos corderos de un año, sin defecto, como holocausto continuo.»

The other lamb you shall offer at twilight, preparing the same meal offering and libation as in the morning—an offering by fire of pleasing odor to יהוה.
«Ofrecerás el otro cordero al atardecer. Presentarás una ofrenda vegetal como la de la mañana, y del mismo modo su libación. Es una ofrenda quemada de grato olor al Eterno.»
On the sabbath day: two yearling lambs without blemish, together with two-tenths of a measure of choice flour with oil mixed in as a meal offering, and with the proper libation—
«El día del shabbat ofrecerás dos corderos de un año, sin defecto, y una ofrenda vegetal de dos décimas de un efa de harina fina amasada con aceite, con su libación.»
As meal offering for each bull: three-tenths of a measure of choice flour with oil mixed in. As meal offering for each ram: two-tenths of a measure of choice flour with oil mixed in.
Por cada novillo la ofrenda vegetal será de tres décimas de un efa de harina fina amasada con aceite; por el carnero, dos décimas de harina fina amasada con aceite.
As meal offering for each lamb: a tenth of a measure of fine flour with oil mixed in. Such shall be the burnt offering of pleasing odor, an offering by fire to יהוה.
Y por cada cordero, una décima de harina fina amasada con aceite. Éste es el holocausto de grato olor, una ofrenda quemada al Eterno.
Their libations shall be: half a hin of wine for a bull, a third of a hin for a ram, and a quarter of a hin for a lamb. That shall be the monthly burnt offering for each new moon of the year.
Sus libaciones serán de medio hin de vino por cada novillo, la tercera parte de un hin por el carnero y la cuarta parte de un hin por cada cordero. Éste es el holocausto de cada mes, todos los meses del año.
And there shall be one goat as a sin offering to יהוה, to be offered in addition to the regular burnt offering and its libation.

Remember the days of old, Consider the years of ages past; Ask your parent, who will inform you, Your elders, who will tell you:

Nevermore shall you be called “Forsaken,” Nor shall your land be called “Desolate”; But you shall be called “I delight in her,” And your land “Espoused.” For the LORD takes delight in you, And your land shall be espoused.

Ephraim [shall say]: “What more have I to do with idols? When I respond and look to Him, I become like a verdant cypress.” Your fruit is provided by Me.

He who is wise will consider these words, He who is prudent will take note of them. For the paths of the LORD are smooth; The righteous can walk on them, While sinners stumble on them.
¿Quién es sabio para entender estas cosas, y prudente para conocerlas? Ciertamente los caminos de Hashem son rectos, y los justos caminarán por ellos. Pero los rebeldes tropezarán en ellos.
Who is a God like You, Forgiving iniquity And remitting transgression; Who has not maintained His wrath forever Against the remnant of His own people, Because He loves graciousness!

Let the wicked give up his ways, The sinful man his plans; Let him turn back to the LORD, And He will pardon him; To our God, For He freely forgives.

Yea, you shall leave in joy and be led home secure. Before you, mount and hill shall shout aloud, And all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

Instead of the brier, a cypress shall rise; Instead of the nettle, a myrtle shall rise. These shall stand as a testimony to the LORD, As an everlasting sign that shall not perish.

Thus declares the Lord GOD, Who gathers the dispersed of Israel: “I will gather still more to those already gathered.”

About Parashat Vayeilech
Moses tells the people he is 120 years old and will not cross the Jordan, but God will go before them, and Joshua will lead. Before all Israel he tells Joshua, "Be strong and courageous," for God will not abandon him. Moses writes down the Torah and gives it to the priests and elders, and commands that every seven years, on Sukkot after the sabbatical year, the whole people, men, women, children and strangers, gather to hear it read. God tells Moses that after his death the people will stray, and God will hide His face from them. God instructs Moses to write a song and teach it to Israel as a witness for the future. Moses completes writing the Torah and has it placed beside the Ark. Vayelech is often read together with Nitzavim; when read on its own, it falls on Shabbat Shuva.
Be strong and resolute, be not in fear or in dread of them; for it is indeed your God יהוה who marches with you: [God] will not fail you or forsake you.

It is indeed your God יהוה who will cross over before you, and who will wipe out those nations from your path; and you shall dispossess them.—Joshua is the one who shall cross before you, as יהוה has spoken.—

יהוה will do to them as was done to Sihon and Og, kings of the Amorites, and to their countries, when [God] wiped them out.
El Eterno hará con ellos como hizo con Sejón y con Og, reyes de los emoritas, a los cuales destruyó con sus tierras.
וּנְתָנָ֥ם יְהוָ֖ה לִפְנֵיכֶ֑ם וַעֲשִׂיתֶ֣ם לָהֶ֔ם כְּכָל־הַמִּצְוָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר צִוִּ֖יתִי אֶתְכֶֽם׃
יהוה will deliver them up to you, and you shall deal with them in full accordance with the Instruction that I have enjoined upon you.
El Eterno los entregará delante de ustedes, y harán con ellos conforme a todo lo que les he mandado.

Then Moses called Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel: “Be strong and resolute, for it is you who shall go with this people into the land that יהוה swore to their fathers to give them, and it is you who shall apportion it to them.
Entonces Moshé llamó a Iehoshúa y le dijo ante la vista de todo Israel: «¡Esfuérzate y sé valiente! Porque tú entrarás con este pueblo a la tierra que Hashem juró a sus padres que les había de dar, y tú se la darás en posesión.»
וַֽיהוָ֞ה ה֣וּא ׀ הַהֹלֵ֣ךְ לְפָנֶ֗יךָ ה֚וּא יִהְיֶ֣ה עִמָּ֔ךְ לֹ֥א יַרְפְּךָ֖ וְלֹ֣א יַֽעַזְבֶ֑ךָּ לֹ֥א תִירָ֖א וְלֹ֥א תֵחָֽת׃
And it is indeed יהוה who will go before you. [God] will be with you—and will not fail you or forsake you. Fear not and be not dismayed!”
«El Eterno es quien va delante de ti. Él estará contigo; no te dejará ni te desamparará. ¡No temas ni te atemorices!»
וַיִּכְתֹּ֣ב מֹשֶׁה֮ אֶת־הַתּוֹרָ֣ה הַזֹּאת֒ וַֽיִּתְּנָ֗הּ אֶל־הַכֹּהֲנִים֙ בְּנֵ֣י לֵוִ֔י הַנֹּ֣שְׂאִ֔ים אֶת־אֲר֖וֹן בְּרִ֣ית יְהוָ֑ה וְאֶל־כָּל־זִקְנֵ֖י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
Moses wrote down this Teaching and gave it to the priests, sons of Levi, who carried the Ark of יהוה’s Covenant, and to all the elders of Israel.
Entonces Moshé escribió esta Torá y la dio a los sacerdotes, hijos de Leví, que llevaban el arca del pacto Hashem, y a todos los ancianos de Israel.
רביעיRevi’i31:10–13
וַיְצַ֥ו מֹשֶׁ֖ה אוֹתָ֣ם לֵאמֹ֑ר מִקֵּ֣ץ ׀ שֶׁ֣בַע שָׁנִ֗ים בְּמֹעֵ֛ד שְׁנַ֥ת הַשְּׁמִטָּ֖ה בְּחַ֥ג הַסֻּכּֽוֹת׃
And Moses instructed them as follows: Every seventh year, the year set for remission, at the Feast of Booths,
Moshé les mandó diciendo: «Al final del séptimo año, en el tiempo señalado del año de la remisión, en la fiesta de Sucot,»
בְּב֣וֹא כָל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל לֵרָאוֹת֙ אֶת־פְּנֵי֙ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ בַּמָּק֖וֹם אֲשֶׁ֣ר יִבְחָ֑ר תִּקְרָ֞א אֶת־הַתּוֹרָ֥ה הַזֹּ֛את נֶ֥גֶד כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בְּאָזְנֵיהֶֽם׃
when all Israel comes to appear before your God יהוה in the place that [God] will choose, you shall read this Teaching aloud in the presence of all Israel.
cuando todo Israel venga para presentarse delante Hashem tu Elohim en el lugar que él haya escogido, leerás esta Torá frente a todo Israel, a sus oídos.
הַקְהֵ֣ל אֶת־הָעָ֗ם הָֽאֲנָשִׁ֤ים וְהַנָּשִׁים֙ וְהַטַּ֔ף וְגֵרְךָ֖ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בִּשְׁעָרֶ֑יךָ לְמַ֨עַן יִשְׁמְע֜וּ וּלְמַ֣עַן יִלְמְד֗וּ וְיָֽרְאוּ֙ אֶת־יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֔ם וְשָֽׁמְר֣וּ לַעֲשׂ֔וֹת אֶת־כָּל־דִּבְרֵ֖י הַתּוֹרָ֥ה הַזֹּֽאת׃
Gather the people—men, women, children, and the strangers in your communities—that they may hear and so learn to revere your God יהוה and to observe faithfully every word of this Teaching.
Congrega al pueblo–los hombres, las mujeres, los niños y los forasteros que estén en tus ciudades–, para que oigan, y para que aprendan y reverencien al Eterno su Elohim y cuiden de poner por obra todas las palabras de esta Torá.
וּבְנֵיהֶ֞ם אֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹֽא־יָדְע֗וּ יִשְׁמְעוּ֙ וְלָ֣מְד֔וּ לְיִרְאָ֖ה אֶת־יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֑ם כָּל־הַיָּמִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֨ר אַתֶּ֤ם חַיִּים֙ עַל־הָ֣אֲדָמָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר אַתֶּ֜ם עֹבְרִ֧ים אֶת־הַיַּרְדֵּ֛ן שָׁ֖מָּה לְרִשְׁתָּֽהּ׃ (פ)
Their children, too, who have not had the experience, shall hear and learn to revere your God יהוה as long as they live in the land that you are about to cross the Jordan to possess.
«Sus hijos que no la conocen la oirán y aprenderán a temer al Eterno su Elohim, todos los días que vivan en la tierra que para tomarla en posesión cruzan el Iardén (Jordán).»

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֜ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֗ה הֵ֣ן קָרְב֣וּ יָמֶיךָ֮ לָמוּת֒ קְרָ֣א אֶת־יְהוֹשֻׁ֗עַ וְהִֽתְיַצְּב֛וּ בְּאֹ֥הֶל מוֹעֵ֖ד וַאֲצַוֶּ֑נּוּ וַיֵּ֤לֶךְ מֹשֶׁה֙ וִֽיהוֹשֻׁ֔עַ וַיִּֽתְיַצְּב֖וּ בְּאֹ֥הֶל מוֹעֵֽד׃
יהוה said to Moses: The time is drawing near for you to die. Call Joshua and present yourselves in the Tent of Meeting, that I may instruct him. Moses and Joshua went and presented themselves in the Tent of Meeting.
Entonces Hashem dijo a Moshé: «He aquí, se ha acercado el día de tu muerte. Llama a Iehoshúa, y preséntense en el tabernáculo de reunión para que yo lo comisione.» Moshé e Iehoshúa fueron y esperaron en el tabernáculo de reunión.
וַיֵּרָ֧א יְהוָ֛ה בָּאֹ֖הֶל בְּעַמּ֣וּד עָנָ֑ן וַיַּעֲמֹ֛ד עַמּ֥וּד הֶעָנָ֖ן עַל־פֶּ֥תַח הָאֹֽהֶל׃ (ס)
יהוה appeared in the Tent, in a pillar of cloud, the pillar of cloud having come to rest at the entrance of the tent.
Entonces Hashem se apareció en el tabernáculo, en una columna de nube. Se posó la columna de nube sobre la entrada del tabernáculo.
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֔ה הִנְּךָ֥ שֹׁכֵ֖ב עִם־אֲבֹתֶ֑יךָ וְקָם֩ הָעָ֨ם הַזֶּ֜ה וְזָנָ֣ה ׀ אַחֲרֵ֣י ׀ אֱלֹהֵ֣י נֵֽכַר־הָאָ֗רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֨ר ה֤וּא בָא־שָׁ֙מָּה֙ בְּקִרְבּ֔וֹ וַעֲזָבַ֕נִי וְהֵפֵר֙ אֶת־בְּרִיתִ֔י אֲשֶׁ֥ר כָּרַ֖תִּי אִתּֽוֹ׃
יהוה said to Moses: You are soon to lie with your ancestors. This people will thereupon go astray after the alien gods in their midst, in the land that they are about to enter; they will forsake Me and break My covenant that I made with them.
Y Hashem dijo a Moshé: «He aquí que tú vas a reposar con tus padres, pero este pueblo se levantará y se prostituirá tras los dioses extraños de la tierra hacia la cual va. En medio de ella me abandonará e invalidará mi pacto que he hecho con él.»
וְחָרָ֣ה אַפִּ֣י ב֣וֹ בַיּוֹם־הַ֠הוּא וַעֲזַבְתִּ֞ים וְהִסְתַּרְתִּ֨י פָנַ֤י מֵהֶם֙ וְהָיָ֣ה לֶֽאֱכֹ֔ל וּמְצָאֻ֛הוּ רָע֥וֹת רַבּ֖וֹת וְצָר֑וֹת וְאָמַר֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֔וּא הֲלֹ֗א עַ֣ל כִּֽי־אֵ֤ין אֱלֹהַי֙ בְּקִרְבִּ֔י מְצָא֖וּנִי הָרָע֥וֹת הָאֵֽלֶּה׃
Then My anger will flare up against them, and I will abandon them and hide My countenance from them. They shall be ready prey; and many evils and troubles shall befall them. And they shall say on that day, “Surely it is because our God is not in our midst that these evils have befallen us.”
Aquel día se encenderá contra él Mi furor. Yo los abandonaré; esconderé de ellos Mi rostro, y serán consumidos. Muchos males y angustias les vendrán. En aquel día dirá: «¿Acaso no me han sobrevenido estos males porque mi Elohim no está en medio de mí?»
וְאָנֹכִ֗י הַסְתֵּ֨ר אַסְתִּ֤יר פָּנַי֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֔וּא עַ֥ל כָּל־הָרָעָ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֑ה כִּ֣י פָנָ֔ה אֶל־אֱלֹהִ֖ים אֲחֵרִֽים׃
Yet I will keep My countenance hidden on that day, because of all the evil they have done in turning to other gods.
Aquel día ciertamente esconderé Mi rostro, a causa de todo el mal que habrá hecho, por tornarse hacia dioses ajenos.
וְעַתָּ֗ה כִּתְב֤וּ לָכֶם֙ אֶת־הַשִּׁירָ֣ה הַזֹּ֔את וְלַמְּדָ֥הּ אֶת־בְּנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל שִׂימָ֣הּ בְּפִיהֶ֑ם לְמַ֨עַן תִּהְיֶה־לִּ֜י הַשִּׁירָ֥ה הַזֹּ֛את לְעֵ֖ד בִּבְנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
Therefore, write down this poem and teach it to the people of Israel; put it in their mouths, in order that this poem may be My witness against the people of Israel.
«Ahora, escriban para ustedes este cántico y enséñenlo a los Hijos de Israel. Ponlo en su boca, para que este cántico Me sea de testigo en los Hijos de Israel.»
שישיShishi31:20–24
כִּֽי־אֲבִיאֶ֜נּוּ אֶֽל־הָאֲדָמָ֣ה ׀ אֲשֶׁר־נִשְׁבַּ֣עְתִּי לַאֲבֹתָ֗יו זָבַ֤ת חָלָב֙ וּדְבַ֔שׁ וְאָכַ֥ל וְשָׂבַ֖ע וְדָשֵׁ֑ן וּפָנָ֞ה אֶל־אֱלֹהִ֤ים אֲחֵרִים֙ וַעֲבָד֔וּם וְנִ֣אֲצ֔וּנִי וְהֵפֵ֖ר אֶת־בְּרִיתִֽי׃
When I bring them into the land flowing with milk and honey that I promised on oath to their fathers, and they eat their fill and grow fat and turn to other gods and serve them, spurning Me and breaking My covenant,
Cuando Yo les haya introducido en la tierra que juré dar a sus padres, una tierra que fluye leche y miel, y cuando hayan comido y se hayan saciado y engordado, entonces se volverán a dioses ajenos y les rendirán culto. Así me desdeñarán e invalidarán mi pacto.
וְ֠הָיָה כִּֽי־תִמְצֶ֨אןָ אֹת֜וֹ רָע֣וֹת רַבּוֹת֮ וְצָרוֹת֒ וְ֠עָנְתָה הַשִּׁירָ֨ה הַזֹּ֤את לְפָנָיו֙ לְעֵ֔ד כִּ֛י לֹ֥א תִשָּׁכַ֖ח מִפִּ֣י זַרְע֑וֹ כִּ֧י יָדַ֣עְתִּי אֶת־יִצְר֗וֹ אֲשֶׁ֨ר ה֤וּא עֹשֶׂה֙ הַיּ֔וֹם בְּטֶ֣רֶם אֲבִיאֶ֔נּוּ אֶל־הָאָ֖רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֥ר נִשְׁבָּֽעְתִּי׃
and the many evils and troubles befall them—then this poem shall confront them as a witness, since it will never be lost from the mouth of their offspring. For I know what plans they are devising even now, before I bring them into the land that I promised on oath.
«Y sucederá que cuando le sobrevengan muchos males y angustias, este cántico dará testimonio contra él. Ciertamente no caerá en el olvido en la boca de sus descendientes, porque yo conozco sus predisposiciones y lo que hace hoy, aun antes de que yo le introduzca en la tierra que juré dar a sus padres.»
וַיִּכְתֹּ֥ב מֹשֶׁ֛ה אֶת־הַשִּׁירָ֥ה הַזֹּ֖את בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֑וּא וַֽיְלַמְּדָ֖הּ אֶת־בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
That day, Moses wrote down this poem and taught it to the Israelites.
Aquel mismo día escribió Moshé este cántico y lo enseñó a los Hijos de Israel.
וַיְצַ֞ו אֶת־יְהוֹשֻׁ֣עַ בִּן־נ֗וּן וַיֹּאמֶר֮ חֲזַ֣ק וֶֽאֱמָץ֒ כִּ֣י אַתָּ֗ה תָּבִיא֙ אֶת־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֶל־הָאָ֖רֶץ אֲשֶׁר־נִשְׁבַּ֣עְתִּי לָהֶ֑ם וְאָנֹכִ֖י אֶֽהְיֶ֥ה עִמָּֽךְ׃
And [God] charged Joshua son of Nun: “Be strong and resolute: for you shall bring the Israelites into the land that I promised them on oath, and I will be with you.”
Entonces Elohim ordenó a Iehoshúa hijo de Nun, diciendo: «¡Esfuérzate y sé valiente! Porque tú harás entrar a los hijos de Israel a la tierra que les juré, y yo estaré contigo.»
וַיְהִ֣י ׀ כְּכַלּ֣וֹת מֹשֶׁ֗ה לִכְתֹּ֛ב אֶת־דִּבְרֵ֥י הַתּוֹרָֽה־הַזֹּ֖את עַל־סֵ֑פֶר עַ֖ד תֻּמָּֽם׃
When Moses had put down in writing the words of this Teaching to the very end,

Moses charged the Levites who carried the Ark of the Covenant of יהוה, saying:

לָקֹ֗חַ אֵ֣ת סֵ֤פֶר הַתּוֹרָה֙ הַזֶּ֔ה וְשַׂמְתֶּ֣ם אֹת֔וֹ מִצַּ֛ד אֲר֥וֹן בְּרִית־יְהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֑ם וְהָֽיָה־שָׁ֥ם בְּךָ֖ לְעֵֽד׃
Take this book of Teaching and place it beside the Ark of the Covenant of your God יהוה, and let it remain there as a witness against you.
«Tomen este libro de la Torá y colóquenlo al lado del arca del pacto de Hashem su Elohim. Que esté ahí como testigo contra ustedes,»
כִּ֣י אָנֹכִ֤י יָדַ֙עְתִּי֙ אֶֽת־מֶרְיְךָ֔ וְאֶֽת־עָרְפְּךָ֖ הַקָּשֶׁ֑ה הֵ֣ן בְּעוֹדֶנִּי֩ חַ֨י עִמָּכֶ֜ם הַיּ֗וֹם מַמְרִ֤ים הֱיִתֶם֙ עִם־יְהֹוָ֔ה וְאַ֖ף כִּי־אַחֲרֵ֥י מוֹתִֽי׃
Well I know how defiant and stiffnecked you are: even now, while I am still alive in your midst, you have been defiant toward יהוה; how much more, then, when I am dead!
porque yo conozco su rebeldía y su cerviz dura. ¡Miren, estando yo aún vivo hoy con ustedes, ya son rebeldes ante Hashem! ¿Y cuánto más después de mi muerte?
הַקְהִ֧ילוּ אֵלַ֛י אֶת־כָּל־זִקְנֵ֥י שִׁבְטֵיכֶ֖ם וְשֹׁטְרֵיכֶ֑ם וַאֲדַבְּרָ֣ה בְאָזְנֵיהֶ֗ם אֵ֚ת הַדְּבָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֔לֶּה וְאָעִ֣ידָה בָּ֔ם אֶת־הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם וְאֶת־הָאָֽרֶץ׃
Gather to me all the elders of your tribes and your officials, that I may speak all these words to them and that I may call heaven and earth to witness against them.
Reúnan ante mí a todos los ancianos de sus tribus y a sus oficiales. Hablaré a sus oídos estas palabras, y llamaré a los cielos y a la tierra como testigos contra ellos.
כִּ֣י יָדַ֗עְתִּי אַחֲרֵ֤י מוֹתִי֙ כִּֽי־הַשְׁחֵ֣ת תַּשְׁחִת֔וּן וְסַרְתֶּ֣ם מִן־הַדֶּ֔רֶךְ אֲשֶׁ֥ר צִוִּ֖יתִי אֶתְכֶ֑ם וְקָרָ֨את אֶתְכֶ֤ם הָֽרָעָה֙ בְּאַחֲרִ֣ית הַיָּמִ֔ים כִּֽי־תַעֲשׂ֤וּ אֶת־הָרַע֙ בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה לְהַכְעִיס֖וֹ בְּמַעֲשֵׂ֥ה יְדֵיכֶֽם׃
For I know that, when I am dead, you will act wickedly and turn away from the path that I enjoined upon you, and that in time to come misfortune will befall you for having done evil in the sight of יהוה, whom you vexed by your deeds.
Porque yo sé que después de mi muerte ustedes se corromperán y se desviarán del camino que les he mandado. En el futuro les sobrevendrá la desgracia, porque habrán hecho lo mal ante los ojos de Hashem, provocando Su ira con las obras de sus manos.»
וַיְדַבֵּ֣ר מֹשֶׁ֗ה בְּאָזְנֵי֙ כָּל־קְהַ֣ל יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֶת־דִּבְרֵ֥י הַשִּׁירָ֖ה הַזֹּ֑את עַ֖ד תֻּמָּֽם׃ (פ)
Then Moses recited the words of this poem to the very end, in the hearing of the whole congregation of Israel:

הַקְהִ֧ילוּ אֵלַ֛י אֶת־כָּל־זִקְנֵ֥י שִׁבְטֵיכֶ֖ם וְשֹׁטְרֵיכֶ֑ם וַאֲדַבְּרָ֣ה בְאָזְנֵיהֶ֗ם אֵ֚ת הַדְּבָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֔לֶּה וְאָעִ֣ידָה בָּ֔ם אֶת־הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם וְאֶת־הָאָֽרֶץ׃
Gather to me all the elders of your tribes and your officials, that I may speak all these words to them and that I may call heaven and earth to witness against them.

For I know that, when I am dead, you will act wickedly and turn away from the path that I enjoined upon you, and that in time to come misfortune will befall you for having done evil in the sight of יהוה, whom you vexed by your deeds.
Porque yo sé que después de mi muerte ustedes se corromperán y se desviarán del camino que les he mandado. En el futuro les sobrevendrá la desgracia, porque habrán hecho lo mal ante los ojos de Hashem, provocando Su ira con las obras de sus manos.»

You shall offer one lamb in the morning, and the other lamb you shall offer at twilight.

The libation with it shall be a quarter of a hin for each lamb, to be poured in the sacred precinct as an offering of fermented drink to יהוה.

«Ofrecerás el otro cordero al atardecer. Presentarás una ofrenda vegetal como la de la mañana, y del mismo modo su libación. Es una ofrenda quemada de grato olor al Eterno.»

a burnt offering for every sabbath, in addition to the regular burnt offering and its libation.

Give ear, O heavens, let me speak;
Let the earth hear the words I utter!
«Presten atención, cielos, y yo hablaré; escuche la tierra las palabras de mi boca.»
יַעֲרֹ֤ף כַּמָּטָר֙ לִקְחִ֔י תִּזַּ֥ל כַּטַּ֖ל אִמְרָתִ֑י כִּשְׂעִירִ֣ם עֲלֵי־דֶ֔שֶׁא וְכִרְבִיבִ֖ים עֲלֵי־עֵֽשֶׂב׃

הֲ־לַיְהוָה֙ תִּגְמְלוּ־זֹ֔את עַ֥ם נָבָ֖ל וְלֹ֣א חָכָ֑ם הֲלוֹא־הוּא֙ אָבִ֣יךָ קָּנֶ֔ךָ ה֥וּא עָֽשְׂךָ֖ וַֽיְכֹנְנֶֽךָ׃
Do you thus requite יהוה,
O dull and witless people?
Is not this the Father who created you—

For יהוה’s portion is this people;
Jacob, God’s own allotment.

You shall be a glorious crown
In the hand of the LORD,
And a royal diadem

Serás una corona de gloria en la mano de Hashem, y una diadema real en la palma de tu Elohim.

For the LORD takes delight in you,

נִשְׁבַּ֧ע יְהוָ֛ה בִּֽימִינ֖וֹ וּבִזְר֣וֹעַ עֻזּ֑וֹ אִם־אֶתֵּן֩ אֶת־דְּגָנֵ֨ךְ ע֤וֹד מַֽאֲכָל֙ לְאֹ֣יְבַ֔יִךְ וְאִם־יִשְׁתּ֤וּ בְנֵֽי־נֵכָר֙ תִּֽירוֹשֵׁ֔ךְ אֲשֶׁ֥ר יָגַ֖עַתְּ בּֽוֹ׃
The LORD has sworn by His right hand,
By His mighty arm:
Nevermore will I give your new grain
To your enemies for food,
Nor shall foreigners drink the new wine
For which you have labored.
Hashem ha jurado por su mano derecha y por su brazo poderoso: «¡Jamás volveré a dar tu trigo como alimento a tus enemigos, ni los hijos de extranjeros beberán tu vino nuevo, por el cual tú te has esforzado!»
כִּ֤י מְאַסְפָיו֙ יֹאכְלֻ֔הוּ וְהִֽלְל֖וּ אֶת־יְהוָ֑ה וּֽמְקַבְּצָ֥יו יִשְׁתֻּ֖הוּ בְּחַצְר֥וֹת קָדְשִֽׁי׃ (ס)
But those who harvest it shall eat it
And give praise to the LORD;
And those who gather it shall drink it
In My sacred courts.
«¡Sino que los que lo cosechen lo comerán y alabarán a Hashem, y los que lo recolecten lo beberán en los patios de Mi santuario».
עִבְר֤וּ עִבְרוּ֙ בַּשְּׁעָרִ֔ים פַּנּ֖וּ דֶּ֣רֶךְ הָעָ֑ם סֹ֣לּוּ סֹ֤לּוּ הַֽמְסִלָּה֙ סַקְּל֣וּ מֵאֶ֔בֶן הָרִ֥ימוּ נֵ֖ס עַל־הָעַמִּֽים׃
Pass through, pass through the gates!
Clear the road for the people;
Build up, build up the highway,
Remove the rocks!
Raise an ensign over the peoples!
¡Pasen, pasen por las puertas! ¡Preparen el camino para el pueblo! ¡Despejen, despejen la calzada, quiten las piedras! ¡Levanten una bandera hacia los pueblos!
הִנֵּ֣ה יְהוָ֗ה הִשְׁמִ֙יעַ֙ אֶל־קְצֵ֣ה הָאָ֔רֶץ אִמְרוּ֙ לְבַת־צִיּ֔וֹן הִנֵּ֥ה יִשְׁעֵ֖ךְ בָּ֑א הִנֵּ֤ה שְׂכָרוֹ֙ אִתּ֔וֹ וּפְעֻלָּת֖וֹ לְפָנָֽיו׃
See, the LORD has proclaimed
To the end of the earth:
Announce to Fair Zion,
Your Deliverer is coming!
See, his reward is with Him,
His recompense before Him.
¡Miren! Hashem ha proclamado hasta los confines de la tierra: «Díganle a la hija de Tzión: ¡Mira, tu salvación viene! ¡Mira, su recompensa viene con Él, y delante de Él va su obra!»
וְקָרְא֥וּ לָהֶ֛ם עַם־הַקֹּ֖דֶשׁ גְּאוּלֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה וְלָךְ֙ יִקָּרֵ֣א דְרוּשָׁ֔ה עִ֖יר לֹ֥א נֶעֱזָֽבָה׃ (ס)
And they shall be called, “The Holy People,
The Redeemed of the LORD,”
And you shall be called, “Sought Out,
A City Not Forsaken.”
Entonces les llamarán Pueblo Santo, Redimidos Hashem. Y a ti te llamarán Buscada, Ciudad No Desamparada.
מִי־זֶ֣ה ׀ בָּ֣א מֵאֱד֗וֹם חֲמ֤וּץ בְּגָדִים֙ מִבָּצְרָ֔ה זֶ֚ה הָד֣וּר בִּלְבוּשׁ֔וֹ צֹעֶ֖ה בְּרֹ֣ב כֹּח֑וֹ אֲנִ֛י מְדַבֵּ֥ר בִּצְדָקָ֖ה רַ֥ב לְהוֹשִֽׁיעַ׃
Who is this coming from Edom,
In crimsoned garments from Bozrah—
Who is this, majestic in attire,
Pressing forward in His great might?
“It is I, who contend victoriously,
Powerful to give triumph.”
–¿Quién es este que viene de Edom, de Botzrá (Bosra), vestido con vestiduras brillantes? ¿Quién es este de ropa esplendorosa, que marcha en la grandeza de su poder? –Soy yo, que hablo en justicia, grande para salvar.
מַדּ֥וּעַ אָדֹ֖ם לִלְבוּשֶׁ֑ךָ וּבְגָדֶ֖יךָ כְּדֹרֵ֥ךְ בְּגַֽת׃
Why is your clothing so red,
Your garments like his who treads grapes?
–¿Por qué está enrojecida tu ropa, y tus vestiduras están como las del que ha pisado en el lagar?
פּוּרָ֣ה ׀ דָּרַ֣כְתִּי לְבַדִּ֗י וּמֵֽעַמִּים֙ אֵֽין־אִ֣ישׁ אִתִּ֔י וְאֶדְרְכֵ֣ם בְּאַפִּ֔י וְאֶרְמְסֵ֖ם בַּחֲמָתִ֑י וְיֵ֤ז נִצְחָם֙ עַל־בְּגָדַ֔י וְכָל־מַלְבּוּשַׁ֖י אֶגְאָֽלְתִּי׃
“I trod out a vintage alone;
Of the peoples no man was with Me.
I trod them down in My anger,
Trampled them in My rage;
Their life-blood bespattered My garments,
And all My clothing was stained.
–He pisado el lagar yo solo. De los pueblos nadie estuvo conmigo. Los he pisado con mi furor, y los he hollado con mi ira. La sangre de ellos salpicó mis vestiduras, y manché toda mi ropa.
כִּ֛י י֥וֹם נָקָ֖ם בְּלִבִּ֑י וּשְׁנַ֥ת גְּאוּלַ֖י בָּֽאָה׃
For I had planned a day of vengeance,
And My year of redemption arrived.
Porque el día de la venganza ha estado en mi corazón, y el año de mi redención ha llegado.
וְאַבִּיט֙ וְאֵ֣ין עֹזֵ֔ר וְאֶשְׁתּוֹמֵ֖ם וְאֵ֣ין סוֹמֵ֑ךְ וַתּ֤וֹשַֽׁע לִי֙ זְרֹעִ֔י וַחֲמָתִ֖י הִ֥יא סְמָכָֽתְנִי׃
Then I looked, but there was none to help;
I stared, but there was none to aid—
So My own arm wrought the triumph,
And My own rage was My aid.
Yo miré, y no había quien ayudase. Me asombré de que no hubiese quien apoyase. Entonces mi propio brazo me salvó; y mi ira, ella me sostuvo.
וְאָב֤וּס עַמִּים֙ בְּאַפִּ֔י וַאֲשַׁכְּרֵ֖ם בַּחֲמָתִ֑י וְאוֹרִ֥יד לָאָ֖רֶץ נִצְחָֽם׃ (ס)
I trampled peoples in My anger,
I made them drunk with My rage,
And I hurled their glory to the ground.”
Con mi furor pisoteé a los pueblos; los embriagué con mi ira y derramé su sangre por tierra.
חַֽסְדֵ֨י יְהוָ֤ה ׀ אַזְכִּיר֙ תְּהִלֹּ֣ת יְהוָ֔ה כְּעַ֕ל כֹּ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־גְּמָלָ֖נוּ יְהוָ֑ה וְרַב־טוּב֙ לְבֵ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֲשֶׁר־גְּמָלָ֥ם כְּֽרַחֲמָ֖יו וּכְרֹ֥ב חֲסָדָֽיו׃
I will recount the kind acts of the LORD,
The praises of the LORD—
For all that the LORD has wrought for us,
The vast bounty to the House of Israel
That He bestowed upon them
According to His mercy and His great kindness.
Las misericordias Hashem recordaré, y las alabanzas Hashem, conforme a todo lo que Hashem nos ha recompensado, y a su gran bondad para con la casa de Israel. Él nos ha recompensado según su misericordia y su gran compasión.
וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ אַךְ־עַמִּ֣י הֵ֔מָּה בָּנִ֖ים לֹ֣א יְשַׁקֵּ֑רוּ וַיְהִ֥י לָהֶ֖ם לְמוֹשִֽׁיעַ׃
He thought: Surely they are My people,
Children who will not play false.
So He was their Deliverer.
Pues ha dicho: «Ciertamente ellos son mi pueblo, hijos que no mienten.» Y él fue su Salvador.
בְּֽכָל־צָרָתָ֣ם ׀ לא [ל֣וֹ] צָ֗ר וּמַלְאַ֤ךְ פָּנָיו֙ הֽוֹשִׁיעָ֔ם בְּאַהֲבָת֥וֹ וּבְחֶמְלָת֖וֹ ה֣וּא גְאָלָ֑ם וַֽיְנַטְּלֵ֥ם וַֽיְנַשְּׂאֵ֖ם כָּל־יְמֵ֥י עוֹלָֽם׃
In all their troubles He was troubled,
And the angel of His Presence delivered them.
In His love and pity
He Himself redeemed them,
Raised them, and exalted them
All the days of old.
En toda la angustia de ellos, Él fue angustiado; y el enviado de su Presencia los salvó. En su amor y en su compasión los redimió. Los alzó y los llevó todos los días de la antigüedad.

שׁ֚וּבָה יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל עַ֖ד יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ כִּ֥י כָשַׁ֖לְתָּ בַּעֲוֺנֶֽךָ׃
Return, O Israel, to the LORD your God,
For you have fallen because of your sin.

קְח֤וּ עִמָּכֶם֙ דְּבָרִ֔ים וְשׁ֖וּבוּ אֶל־יְהוָ֑ה אִמְר֣וּ אֵלָ֗יו כָּל־תִּשָּׂ֤א עָוֺן֙ וְקַח־ט֔וֹב וּֽנְשַׁלְּמָ֥ה פָרִ֖ים שְׂפָתֵֽינוּ׃
Take words with you
And return to the LORD.
Say to Him:
“Forgive all guilt
And accept what is good;
Instead of bulls we will pay
[The offering of] our lips.
Tomen con ustedes palabras y vuelvan a Hashem. Díganle: «Quita toda la iniquidad y acéptanos con bondad; en lugar de toros te ofreceremos el fruto de nuestros labios.
אַשּׁ֣וּר ׀ לֹ֣א יוֹשִׁיעֵ֗נוּ עַל־סוּס֙ לֹ֣א נִרְכָּ֔ב וְלֹא־נֹ֥אמַר ע֛וֹד אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ לְמַעֲשֵׂ֣ה יָדֵ֑ינוּ אֲשֶׁר־בְּךָ֖ יְרֻחַ֥ם יָתֽוֹם׃
Assyria shall not save us,
No more will we ride on steeds;
Nor ever again will we call
Our handiwork our god,
Since in You alone orphans find pity!”
No nos salvará Ashur; no montaremos sobre caballos, ni nunca más diremos a la obra de nuestras manos: «Dioses nuestros»; porque en ti el huérfano alcanzará misericordia.»
אֶרְפָּא֙ מְשׁ֣וּבָתָ֔ם אֹהֲבֵ֖ם נְדָבָ֑ה כִּ֛י שָׁ֥ב אַפִּ֖י מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃
I will heal their affliction,
Generously will I take them back in love;
For My anger has turned away from them.
«Yo los sanaré de su infidelidad. Los amaré generosamente, porque mi furor se habrá apartado de ellos.»
אֶהְיֶ֤ה כַטַּל֙ לְיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל יִפְרַ֖ח כַּשּֽׁוֹשַׁנָּ֑ה וְיַ֥ךְ שָׁרָשָׁ֖יו כַּלְּבָנֽוֹן׃
I will be to Israel like dew;
He shall blossom like the lily,
He shall strike root like a Lebanon tree.
Yo seré para Israel como el rocío; él florecerá como el lirio y echará sus raíces como el Levanón (Líbano).
יֵֽלְכוּ֙ יֹֽנְקוֹתָ֔יו וִיהִ֥י כַזַּ֖יִת הוֹד֑וֹ וְרֵ֥יחַֽ ל֖וֹ כַּלְּבָנֽוֹן׃
His boughs shall spread out far,
His beauty shall be like the olive tree’s,
His fragrance like that of Lebanon.
Sus ramas se extenderán. Su esplendor será como el del olivo, y su fragancia como la del Levanón.
יָשֻׁ֙בוּ֙ יֹשְׁבֵ֣י בְצִלּ֔וֹ יְחַיּ֥וּ דָגָ֖ן וְיִפְרְח֣וּ כַגָּ֑פֶן זִכְר֖וֹ כְּיֵ֥ין לְבָנֽוֹן׃ (ס)
They who sit in his shade shall be revived:
They shall bring to life new grain,
They shall blossom like the vine;
His scent shall be like the wine of Lebanon.
Volverán y se sentarán bajo su sombra. Cultivarán el trigo y florecerán como la vid. Su fragancia será como el vino del Levanón.
אֶפְרַ֕יִם מַה־לִּ֥י ע֖וֹד לָֽעֲצַבִּ֑ים אֲנִ֧י עָנִ֣יתִי וַאֲשׁוּרֶ֗נּוּ אֲנִי֙ כִּבְר֣וֹשׁ רַֽעֲנָ֔ן מִמֶּ֖נִּי פֶּרְיְךָ֥ נִמְצָֽא׃
Ephraim [shall say]:
“What more have I to do with idols?
When I respond and look to Him,
I become like a verdant cypress.”
Your fruit is provided by Me.
«¿Qué tiene que ver Efráim con los ídolos ya? Soy yo quien le responderá y lo cuidará. Yo soy como un ciprés verde; gracias a mí se hallará fruto en ti.»
מִ֤י חָכָם֙ וְיָ֣בֵֽן אֵ֔לֶּה נָב֖וֹן וְיֵֽדָעֵ֑ם כִּֽי־יְשָׁרִ֞ים דַּרְכֵ֣י יְהוָ֗ה וְצַדִּקִים֙ יֵ֣לְכוּ בָ֔ם וּפֹשְׁעִ֖ים יִכָּ֥שְׁלוּ בָֽם׃
He who is wise will consider these words,
He who is prudent will take note of them.
For the paths of the LORD are smooth;
The righteous can walk on them,
While sinners stumble on them.
¿Quién es sabio para entender estas cosas, y prudente para conocerlas? Ciertamente los caminos de Hashem son rectos, y los justos caminarán por ellos. Pero los rebeldes tropezarán en ellos.
מיכהMicah7:18–20
מִי־אֵ֣ל כָּמ֗וֹךָ נֹשֵׂ֤א עָוֺן֙ וְעֹבֵ֣ר עַל־פֶּ֔שַׁע לִשְׁאֵרִ֖ית נַחֲלָת֑וֹ לֹא־הֶחֱזִ֤יק לָעַד֙ אַפּ֔וֹ כִּֽי־חָפֵ֥ץ חֶ֖סֶד הֽוּא׃
Who is a God like You,
Forgiving iniquity
And remitting transgression;
Who has not maintained His wrath forever
Against the remnant of His own people,
Because He loves graciousness!
¿Qué Elohim hay como tú, que perdona la maldad y olvida el pecado del remanente de su heredad? No retiene su enojo para siempre, porque se complace en la misericordia.
יָשׁ֣וּב יְרַֽחֲמֵ֔נוּ יִכְבֹּ֖שׁ עֲוֺֽנֹתֵ֑ינוּ וְתַשְׁלִ֛יךְ בִּמְצֻל֥וֹת יָ֖ם כָּל־חַטֹּאותָֽם׃
He will take us back in love;
He will cover up our iniquities,
You will hurl all our sins
Into the depths of the sea.
Volverá a tener compasión de nosotros. Pisoteará nuestras iniquidades y arrojará todos nuestros pecados a las profundidades del mar.
תִּתֵּ֤ן אֱמֶת֙ לְיַֽעֲקֹ֔ב חֶ֖סֶד לְאַבְרָהָ֑ם אֲשֶׁר־נִשְׁבַּ֥עְתָּ לַאֲבֹתֵ֖ינוּ מִ֥ימֵי קֶֽדֶם׃
You will keep faith with Jacob,
Loyalty to Abraham,
As You promised on oath to our fathers
In days gone by.

Let the wicked give up his ways,
The sinful man his plans;
Let him turn back to the LORD,
And He will pardon him;
To our God,
For He freely forgives.
Que el malvado abandone su camino, y el hombre inicuo sus pensamientos; regrese a Hashem, y Él tendrá compasión de él, y a nuestro Elohim, porque Él perdona abundantemente.
כִּ֣י לֹ֤א מַחְשְׁבוֹתַי֙ מַחְשְׁב֣וֹתֵיכֶ֔ם וְלֹ֥א דַרְכֵיכֶ֖ם דְּרָכָ֑י נְאֻ֖ם יְהוָֽה׃
For My plans are not your plans,
Nor are My ways your ways
—declares the LORD.
«Porque Mis pensamientos no son sus pensamientos, ni sus caminos son Mis caminos», dice Hashem.
כִּֽי־גָבְה֥וּ שָׁמַ֖יִם מֵאָ֑רֶץ כֵּ֣ן גָּבְה֤וּ דְרָכַי֙ מִדַּרְכֵיכֶ֔ם וּמַחְשְׁבֹתַ֖י מִמַּחְשְׁבֹתֵיכֶֽם׃
But as the heavens are high above the earth,
So are My ways high above your ways
And My plans above your plans.
Como los cielos son más altos que la tierra, así Mis caminos son más altos que sus caminos, y Mis pensamientos más altos que sus pensamientos.
כִּ֡י כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר יֵרֵד֩ הַגֶּ֨שֶׁם וְהַשֶּׁ֜לֶג מִן־הַשָּׁמַ֗יִם וְשָׁ֙מָּה֙ לֹ֣א יָשׁ֔וּב כִּ֚י אִם־הִרְוָ֣ה אֶת־הָאָ֔רֶץ וְהוֹלִידָ֖הּ וְהִצְמִיחָ֑הּ וְנָ֤תַן זֶ֙רַע֙ לַזֹּרֵ֔עַ וְלֶ֖חֶם לָאֹכֵֽל׃
For as the rain or snow drops from heaven
And returns not there,
But soaks the earth
And makes it bring forth vegetation,
Yielding seed for sowing and bread for eating,
Porque como la lluvia y la nieve descienden del cielo, y no vuelven allá sin haber saciado la tierra, haciéndola germinar y producir, y dando semilla al que siembra y pan al que come,
כֵּ֣ן יִֽהְיֶ֤ה דְבָרִי֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר יֵצֵ֣א מִפִּ֔י לֹֽא־יָשׁ֥וּב אֵלַ֖י רֵיקָ֑ם כִּ֤י אִם־עָשָׂה֙ אֶת־אֲשֶׁ֣ר חָפַ֔צְתִּי וְהִצְלִ֖יחַ אֲשֶׁ֥ר שְׁלַחְתִּֽיו׃
So is the word that issues from My mouth:
It does not come back to Me unfulfilled,
But performs what I purpose,
Achieves what I sent it to do.
así será Mi palabra que sale de Mi boca: no volverá a Mí vacía, sino que hará lo que Yo quiero, y prosperará en aquello para lo cual la envié.
כִּֽי־בְשִׂמְחָ֣ה תֵצֵ֔אוּ וּבְשָׁל֖וֹם תּֽוּבָל֑וּן הֶהָרִ֣ים וְהַגְּבָע֗וֹת יִפְצְח֤וּ לִפְנֵיכֶם֙ רִנָּ֔ה וְכָל־עֲצֵ֥י הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה יִמְחֲאוּ־כָֽף׃
Yea, you shall leave in joy and be led home secure.
Before you, mount and hill shall shout aloud,
And all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
Ciertamente saldrán con alegría, y serán conducidos en paz. Los montes y las colinas delante de ustedes prorrumperán en canto, y todos los árboles del campo aplaudirán.
תַּ֤חַת הַֽנַּעֲצוּץ֙ יַעֲלֶ֣ה בְר֔וֹשׁ תחת [וְתַ֥חַת] הַסִּרְפַּ֖ד יַעֲלֶ֣ה הֲדַ֑ס וְהָיָ֤ה לַֽיהוָה֙ לְשֵׁ֔ם לְא֥וֹת עוֹלָ֖ם לֹ֥א יִכָּרֵֽת׃ (ס)
Instead of the brier, a cypress shall rise;
Instead of the nettle, a myrtle shall rise.
These shall stand as a testimony to the LORD,
As an everlasting sign that shall not perish.
«En lugar de la espina crecerá el ciprés, y en lugar de la ortiga crecerá el mirto. Esto será para renombre de Hashem, como una señal eterna que no será cortada.»
כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה שִׁמְר֥וּ מִשְׁפָּ֖ט וַעֲשׂ֣וּ צְדָקָ֑ה כִּֽי־קְרוֹבָ֤ה יְשֽׁוּעָתִי֙ לָב֔וֹא וְצִדְקָתִ֖י לְהִגָּלֽוֹת׃
Thus said the LORD:
Observe what is right and do what is just;
For soon My salvation shall come,
And my deliverance be revealed.
Así dice Hashem: «Observen el derecho y practiquen la justicia, porque Mi salvación está por llegar, y Mi justicia está por revelarse.»
אַשְׁרֵ֤י אֱנוֹשׁ֙ יַעֲשֶׂה־זֹּ֔את וּבֶן־אָדָ֖ם יַחֲזִ֣יק בָּ֑הּ שֹׁמֵ֤ר שַׁבָּת֙ מֵֽחַלְּל֔וֹ וְשֹׁמֵ֥ר יָד֖וֹ מֵעֲשׂ֥וֹת כָּל־רָֽע׃ (ס)
Happy is the man who does this,
The man who holds fast to it:
Who keeps the sabbath and does not profane it,
And stays his hand from doing any evil.
«Dichoso el hombre que hace esto, y el ser humano que se aferra a ello, que guarda el shabat sin profanarlo, y guarda su mano de hacer ningún mal.»
וְאַל־יֹאמַ֣ר בֶּן־הַנֵּכָ֗ר הַנִּלְוָ֤ה אֶל־יְהוָה֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר הַבְדֵּ֧ל יַבְדִּילַ֛נִי יְהוָ֖ה מֵעַ֣ל עַמּ֑וֹ וְאַל־יֹאמַר֙ הַסָּרִ֔יס הֵ֥ן אֲנִ֖י עֵ֥ץ יָבֵֽשׁ׃ (ס)
Let not the foreigner say,
Who has attached himself to the LORD,
“The LORD will keep me apart from His people”;
And let not the eunuch say,
“I am a withered tree.”
Y el hijo del extranjero que se ha unido a Hashem no diga: «Seguramente Hashem me separará de Su pueblo.» Ni diga el eunuco: «Miren, yo soy un árbol seco.»
כִּי־כֹ֣ה ׀ אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֗ה לַסָּֽרִיסִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֤ר יִשְׁמְרוּ֙ אֶת־שַׁבְּתוֹתַ֔י וּבָֽחֲר֖וּ בַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר חָפָ֑צְתִּי וּמַחֲזִיקִ֖ים בִּבְרִיתִֽי׃
For thus said the LORD:
“As for the eunuchs who keep My sabbaths,
Who have chosen what I desire
And hold fast to My covenant—
Porque así dice Hashem: «A los eunucos que guardan Mis shabatot, y eligen lo que Yo quiero, y se aferran a Mi pacto,»
וְנָתַתִּ֨י לָהֶ֜ם בְּבֵיתִ֤י וּבְחֽוֹמֹתַי֙ יָ֣ד וָשֵׁ֔ם ט֖וֹב מִבָּנִ֣ים וּמִבָּנ֑וֹת שֵׁ֤ם עוֹלָם֙ אֶתֶּן־ל֔וֹ אֲשֶׁ֖ר לֹ֥א יִכָּרֵֽת׃ (ס)
I will give them, in My House
And within My walls,
A monument and a name
Better than sons or daughters.
I will give them an everlasting name
Which shall not perish.

וּבְנֵ֣י הַנֵּכָ֗ר הַנִּלְוִ֤ים עַל־יְהוָה֙ לְשָׁ֣רְת֔וֹ וּֽלְאַהֲבָה֙ אֶת־שֵׁ֣ם יְהוָ֔ה לִהְי֥וֹת ל֖וֹ לַעֲבָדִ֑ים כָּל־שֹׁמֵ֤ר שַׁבָּת֙ מֵֽחַלְּל֔וֹ וּמַחֲזִיקִ֖ים בִּבְרִיתִֽי׃
As for the foreigners
Who attach themselves to the LORD,
To minister to Him,
And to love the name of the LORD,
To be His servants—
All who keep the sabbath and do not profane it,
And who hold fast to My covenant—
Y a los hijos de los extranjeros que se han unido a Hashem para servirlo, y que aman el nombre de Hashem para ser Sus servidores; a todos los que guardan el shabat sin profanarlo, y se aferran a Mi pacto,
וַהֲבִיאוֹתִ֞ים אֶל־הַ֣ר קָדְשִׁ֗י וְשִׂמַּחְתִּים֙ בְּבֵ֣ית תְּפִלָּתִ֔י עוֹלֹתֵיהֶ֧ם וְזִבְחֵיהֶ֛ם לְרָצ֖וֹן עַֽל־מִזְבְּחִ֑י כִּ֣י בֵיתִ֔י בֵּית־תְּפִלָּ֥ה יִקָּרֵ֖א לְכָל־הָעַמִּֽים׃
I will bring them to My sacred mount
And let them rejoice in My house of prayer.
Their burnt offerings and sacrifices
Shall be welcome on My altar;
For My House shall be called
A house of prayer for all peoples.”
«a los traeré a Mi monte santo, y los alegraré en Mi casa de oración. Sus holocaustos y sus sacrificios serán aceptos sobre Mi altar; porque Mi casa será llamada casa de oración para todos los pueblos.»
נְאֻם֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֔ה מְקַבֵּ֖ץ נִדְחֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל ע֛וֹד אֲקַבֵּ֥ץ עָלָ֖יו לְנִקְבָּצָֽיו׃
Thus declares the Lord GOD,
Who gathers the dispersed of Israel:
“I will gather still more to those already gathered.”

About Parashat Vayeilech
Moses tells the people he is 120 years old and will not cross the Jordan, but God will go before them, and Joshua will lead. Before all Israel he tells Joshua, "Be strong and courageous," for God will not abandon him. Moses writes down the Torah and gives it to the priests and elders, and commands that every seven years, on Sukkot after the sabbatical year, the whole people, men, women, children and strangers, gather to hear it read. God tells Moses that after his death the people will stray, and God will hide His face from them. God instructs Moses to write a song and teach it to Israel as a witness for the future. Moses completes writing the Torah and has it placed beside the Ark. Vayelech is often read together with Nitzavim; when read on its own, it falls on Shabbat Shuva.
